Lorato Scherpenhuyzen has been assisting disadvantaged communities in South Africa for over 28 years. She has created jobs, started choirs, and has given physical and moral support to the young people of South Africa. She belongs to a woman’s organization called the South African Women in Dialogue. She was asked to join a delegation from South Africa in monitoring the South Sudanese Referendum. After spending a month in Sudan, she was invited by the South African government to be an advisor on how to assist the Sudanese people. Lorato’s input was to initiate a healing program to assist the Sudanese people deal with their trauma. The government has embraced this idea and is welcoming the implementation of this healing program for South Africa as well. Lorato is in the process of building a healing center in South Africa and needs financial support to complete the project. Her focus is helping the poor and disenfranchised in South Africa and Sudan.
